Family Fun Ideas….

Mrs Guntrip, Mrs Tyler and Miss Hollidge have put together a photo collage of some good family fun ideas you could do. These are a mixture of good ideas we have seen and some activities that we have done at home with our own families (spot my family’s highly competitive ‘Guntrip Games’) Please comment on this post if you have a go at any of these over the Easter holidays. It would be great to see what you have all been upto! Just download the document for all of our pictures…

Enjoy! From Mrs Guntrip 🙂

Keeping fit…

If your children are finding the Joe Wicks workouts a little bit tricky then give these Andy’s Wild Workouts a go. They are super fun and also full of really interesting information about different animals. If you give one a go then please comment here and tell us all about it.

Useful websites to have a look at…

Hi everyone,

Hope you are all keeping well and are keeping busy at home. Please don’t forget to be doing some reading every day, both sharing a book before bedtime, as well as practising any school reading book as well. We are not setting work plans for over the Easter holidays, but I thought that I would put up some useful websites that you might want to take a look at:

https://www.booktrust.org.uk/books-and-reading/have-some-fun/storybooks-and-games/ – The Book Trust have some lovely storybooks that can be read online.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episodes/b08bzfnh/numberblocks – Lots of number games for counting, adding and subtracting.

https://www.woodlandtrust.org.uk/blog/2020/03/kids-nature-activities-self-isolation/ – Become Nature Detectives with the Woodland Trust. Here are 10 activities that can be completed in the garden!

https://www.natgeokids.com/uk/category/play-and-win/games/ – Brilliant website full of games and competitions for children all linked to the world around them!

https://www.nhs.uk/change4life/activities – This website has some great ideas for getting active, some yummy recipe ideas and some brillient games!

Remember you can always send photos or messages telling us what you have been up to by replying to one of the 2simple Observation emails as well as commenting on any of the blog posts. We would love to see what you have been doing at home.

Some fun home challenges…

Here are some ideas if you would like to give yourself a challenge.

You can do it as a challenge and have a different one each day, or simply look through and pick the ones that would like to have a go at. These are fun and something that the whole family can help with!

Oxford Owl eBook Library…

https://www.oxfordowl.co.uk/for-home/find-a-book/library-page?view=image&query=&type=book&age_group=Age+4-5&level=&level_select=&book_type=&series=

This is a link to the Oxford Owl library of eBooks – these are free of charge but you do need to register to access. This is very easy and there is a large range of texts aimed at your child’s age range. They will be able to practise their phonics/reading skills as well as play some activities linked to each book once they have read them.

Practise your writing…

Here are our Phase 2 and Phase 3 phonics sounds, along with the tricky words…

You can use these to help you with your reading and your writing.

Can you use these sounds to help you write a word?
Don’t forget your tricky words…

Some things you can do using your sound mat:

– Practise writing your name. For an extra challenge, see if you can write your surname.

– Use the sounds to create some simple words and practise writing them.

– Work on your letter formation and handwriting for each of the letters of the alphabet.

– Use play dough to make the different sounds and letters…
